Having grown up on a beef suckler farm in Co Antrim, John graduated in 2001 from the Royal Veterinary College, London and came straight to Nantwich. Having survived that initial summer of Foot and Mouth almost 20 years later he’s still here. John became a partner in the business in April 2008.
John enjoys variety within his working day and will still turn his hand willingly to whatever jobs are requested. He particularly enjoys getting involved in management and nutrition on his routine farms. Their role in overall herd performance and fertility are keys to a successful business. He believes taking a proactive approach to disease control and overall herd health planning are another very important part of the role of a farm vet these days. John has seen some very significant changes in the job over the last 20 years.
Away from work 2 children and a large garden seem to occupy a lot of spare time. However the odd game of golf when the sun shines is enjoyed as well as exploring the nearby Bickerton hills and Sandstone trail.
